About This Coffee

Green coffee for our Filter Cafeina is processed dry (natural) and consists of Yellow Catuai and Mundo Novo varieties. Coffee cherries are mechanically harvested and separated according to ripeness. The coffee is then dried on patios for 7-10 days with regular turning until it reaches less than 12% moisture. After drying, the coffee rests for about 30 days before being hulled and delivered to the Cocatrel Cooperative. The beans come from only three female producers in the Grupo Cafeina: Angélica França (Sitio Serra Nova), Naiara Brito Silva (Sitio Quilombo), and Adalgisa Vilela (Fazenda Pinhal). Grupo Cafeina is a women-led group of over 1100 producers within the cooperative, meeting every two months to share knowledge and increase visibility in the coffee growing community.
