About This Coffee
This lot comes from the renowned Jimma region in western Ethiopia, where passionate smallholder Mustefa Abakeno operates an impressive 18-hectare coffee farm at 2,040 meters above sea level. The variety of coffee varieties he sources from the renowned Jimma Research Center reflects Ethiopia's rich coffee tradition. Mustefa's processing methods combine traditional techniques with innovative approaches to produce high-quality coffee beans. Since 2018, Mustefa has exported his coffee via Falcon direct, supported by the establishment of his own "Beshasha" wet mill. Here, not only his own coffee cherries are processed, but also those from local farmers. This collaboration strengthens the community and brings fair prices for all involved. In close partnership with the Falcon team in Addis Ababa, Mustefa focuses on quality improvement in all production steps. In 2021, agronomist Harun joined the team and brought valuable knowledge: farmer training in sustainable agriculture (GAP), improvement of drying beds through protective nets and regular moisture controls, strict quality controls in the in-house laboratory with moisture meters to ensure optimal drying. In 2022, Mustefa expanded his network further and opened four new buying stations. These locations enable careful selection and purchase of high-quality coffee cherries from farmers in the region, which are then delivered to the main stations "Beshasha" and "Kabira" for further processing. Through this expansion, Mustefa strengthens the local economy while ensuring the high quality for which his coffee is known. The Kabira convinces us with a very fruity aroma that reminds us of grapefruit and peach.
