Kenya Ruera Estate Natural
About This Coffee
Ruvira Factory—a rising star in natural processing in Kenya's Kiambu region—is situated at 1,700masl in red volcanic soil hills, about 15km from Ruiru town. The large diurnal temperature variations, stable climate, and two rainy seasons create ideal conditions for coffee cherries. As one of Kenya's most prominent processing stations, Ruvira employs over 1,000 workers, providing housing and educational resources while fostering a skilled and stable coffee team through regular training. The station is committed to quality improvement and community prosperity. From 2020 to 2021, Ruvira began experimenting with natural processing, a journey from trial to glory. Their partner Villa Clara was amazed by its flavor profile during cupping, marking the start of continuous process optimization. After four years of refinement, the station recently won the 'Kenya Natural Processing TOH Championship,' officially placing Ruvira's natural beans on the specialty coffee stage.
