Uganda Mount Elgon Project

About This Coffee

This coffee is produced by four farmers from two villages on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. Michael Mafabi, Paul Odangwe, Steven Wolyambogo, and Richard Wodulo own individual plantations of 2 to 8 acres on the steep volcano slopes, which provide shade and cool temperatures for the coffee trees. The altitude ranges between 1750 and 2100 meters above sea level, allowing for a slow maturation process of the cherries. The Mt Elgon Coffee Fund is an NGO project that promotes environmental awareness and ecological technology for coffee farmers.
