About This Coffee
The Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm covers 500 hectares, of which about 300 hectares are planted with coffee plants. It has been owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012. The farm is located 510 kilometers south of Addis Ababa and extends across the border of two villages - Taro and Sewana - in the Oromia region, in the Guji area of the Shakiso district in Ethiopia. Ismael leads a team of 25 permanent employees and about 300 seasonal workers. The farm management provides free transportation and financially supports the community in the construction of schools and administrative buildings. The Kayon Mountain Farm operates its own nursery and uses shade trees (acacias and other native species) to protect the coffee plants and at the same time generate compost for natural fertilization.
