About This Coffee

Rooted in the fertile volcanic soils of Antigua, Guatemala, La Esperanza is a pioneering experimental farm founded by Josué Morales of Los Volcanes Coffee. In 2012, when the Los Volcanes team acquired the farm, it was depleted following a severe outbreak of coffee leaf rust. Through years of dedicated trial and error centered on regenerative organic practices, with a particular focus on compost and soil health, La Esperanza has transformed into a vibrant ecosystem where biodiversity and a range of coffee varieties thrive. This lot comes from the farm's Yellow Bourbon trees, a storied cultivar that naturally evolved to produce trees that bear yellow fruit instead of the traditional red.
