Mexico Berilo Espresso
About This Coffee
The Berilo is a coffee rarity from the highlands of Mexico, the state of Chiapas near Motozinta. This region is shaped by the volcanic mountain range Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The robust, mountainous home of the Arabica plants is shielded from the storms of the Pacific yet rich in rain and sunshine. The iron-rich volcanic soils of this region are ideal for cultivation. The coffee grows at altitudes of 1,200 to 1,600 meters and is harvested by hand. Outstanding is the strict quality control before the Berilo is exported. It has the quality classifications SHG (strictly high grown), meaning exclusively highland coffee, and EP (European preparation), a processing optimized for the European market. This espresso is full-bodied and balanced with a fine tobacco and chocolate note. It has a medium-spicy, sweet-malty aroma. The balanced taste and very fine acidity, along with a medium, balanced body, create a velvety, pleasant mouthfeel.
