About This Coffee

The tropical rainforest offers the special climate in which the unique Sumatra Arabica coffee can thrive so wonderfully. At the same time, it is the natural habitat of the last 14,000 wild Sumatra orangutans. The Orang Utan coffee comes from small farmer families in the Gayo Highlands, who manage their coffee gardens sustainably and commit to protecting the rainforest, its animals, and plants. In return, the families receive a premium of €0.50 per kilogram of green coffee. An additional premium of €0.50 per kilogram of coffee supports the Sumatra Orang Utan conservation program, which has been working to protect the Sumatra orangutans and their habitat since 1999. To counteract the rapid depletion of the tropical rainforest, the Orang Utan Coffee project combines sustainable management, resource efficiency, nature conservation, and social responsibility. By enjoying this excellent Orang Utan coffee, the living conditions of the coffee farmers are improved and orangutans are saved from extinction.
