About This Coffee

This is Gildardo Lopez’s Copa de Oro competition lot, and we were fortunate to secure a very small amount of this special selection. In the cup we find an intense and complex profile of blackberry lemonade, coffee blossom florals, and ripe nectarine. Gildardo Lopez produces coffee with his wife, Yolanda, and their four children on the western edge of Huila, near the border with Cauca. His coffees consistently perform at the top of regional competitions, and this year is no exception. We have been working closely with this family for years, and their coffees remain among the most compelling we source from the region. Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
