EL MIRADOR - 2ND HARVEST
About This Coffee
This is the second harvest pass from Octavio Rueda, who has been producing some of the highest-scoring Pink Bourbon in Huila for several years. We hold both this coffee and producer in the highest regard. In the cup we find pomegranate, hibiscus, and lime. We have been purchasing Pink Bourbon from Octavio Rueda for several years, and few producers consistently achieve this level of quality. This year, we hope to begin a closer examination of the genetic diversity within Pink Bourbon—seeking to understand why some lots express such distinctive profiles while others seem inherently limited. Octavio’s coffee is an exceptional example of the variety’s potential, and one we hope to continue learning from. Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
