About This Coffee

William Ortiz is one of the more exciting producers we have met recently, and this Pink Bourbon separation marks our first season including his coffee in our Huila project. In the cup we find pink lemonade, strawberry preserve, and soft florals. William Ortiz is a new addition to our ongoing exploration of Huila. He is currently growing Caturra, Pink Bourbon, and Chiroso—and this harvest, we purchased both his Pink Bourbon and Chiroso selections. We look forward to visiting William and his farm on our next trip to Huila. Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
