About This Coffee

Grown in the highlands of Cordillera, this coffee was produced by Dinesh Kumar at Magma Coffee Plantations. Located within Panama’s Chiriquí region near the Río Chiriquí watershed, the farm benefits from volcanic soil, dense surrounding forest, and cool mountain conditions that create an ideal environment for slow coffee development. At 1600 masl, warm daytime temperatures followed by cool evenings slow cherry ripening, allowing the coffee to develop concentrated sweetness and layered acidity. Combined with mineral rich volcanic soil and consistent humidity moving through the highlands. This lot is made up of the Catuai varietal, a hybrid of Mundo Novo and Caturra first developed in Brazil. Known for its balance and versatility, Catuai performs particularly well in high altitude environments. Processed as a natural, the cherries are dried with the fruit fully intact, allowing extended contact between the seed and fruit during drying. The drying process is carefully managed to maintain consistency and control fermentation activity, resulting in a coffee with enhanced sweetness, rounded body, and pronounced fruit complexity.
