Costa Rica La Candelilla Estate Anaerobic Natural
About This Coffee
Located in Costa Rica's renowned Tarrazú region, La Candelilla Estate sits high in the volcanic soils of the Talamanca Mountains. The farm is managed by the Sánchez family, whose three generations of coffee producers bring deep experience and care to the land. The seven siblings—known as the Cuatro Hermanas (Four Sisters) along with their brothers—run both the estate and its pioneering micromill, which they established in 2000 in response to the low prices offered by large cooperatives. La Candelilla takes its name from the fireflies that light up the farm on warm summer nights. As one of Costa Rica's first estate-level micromills, it helped set the benchmark for small-scale, high-quality coffee production. Today, the estate produces coffees that reflect both its rich history and its ongoing commitment to sustainability and excellence.
