This coffee is more than a purchase for us – it is friendship. For years we have been in close contact with Dylan Aguilera and his family and visit them regularly on their farm, Finca Matilde, named after his grandmother. This closeness is no accident, but the foundation for us to source extraordinary coffees from there year after year. The San Roque variety has its genetic origins in Africa – and that is exactly what you taste. Cultivated in Costa Rica, a fascinating bridge is created here between two coffee worlds: the lively, almost spritz-like character of African coffees meets the sweetness, clarity and complexity that Costa Rica is famous for. In the taste, this interplay is impressively evident: juicy blueberries and bilberries, carried by the warm sweetness of brown sugar and accompanied by fine black tea notes in the finish. A coffee that makes origin, variety and relationship palpable in every cup.
