This year we had the chance to buy coffee from Shantawene processed in multiple styles. This anaerobic, the most complex and modern of the three delivers exactly what we want from a coffee like this. The anaerobic processing exaggerates the classic Ethiopian character in the cup, delivering more strawberry character, more mouthfeel and more sweetness than the straight natural. The Josie team have always loved coffees from the Sidamo Region and the Shantawene Smallholder's lot continues that tradition. From the foothills of the Bombe mountains, this shadegrown coffee gives everything we want in a washed process Ethiopian in spades. Clean cup profile with great and complex acidity, floral aroma and juicy stone fruit. We love it and are sure you will too.
