About This Coffee

Finca Aquiares is located on the fertile slopes of Turrialba volcano and is the largest coffee farm in Costa Rica with over 1,800 inhabitants. Founded in 1890, it became a model project for sustainable agriculture and social responsibility in the 1980s under Alfonso Robelo. Today his son Diego manages the operation with a focus on specialty coffee, ecological innovation and research. The farm is CO₂-neutral, protects biological corridors and collaborates with international research projects on biodiversity and agroforestry. The Red Honey processing features the hybrid variety Centroamericano H1, a cross between Sarchimor T-5296 and Rume Sudan, combining high yields, resistance to coffee rust and an elegant, complex cup profile.
