Philippines Typica Anaerobic Natural
About This Coffee
Philippines coffee. Arabica coffee in the Philippines has traditionally been grown in the cordilleras mountain range in the Benguet and Mountain province in the center of the island of Luzon, north of the capital of Manila. Most farms here were planted long ago. the trees are often decades old. A mix of Typica, Bourbons, and the dwarf San Ramon variety are grown on most farms. Farms are rarely pruned and trees may tower to 20ft+ producing just a handful of cherries on each tree. Most coffee here is grown at 1200-1600m and almost all is washed processed. Miguel visited Better Botany in late 2023 and asked them to harvest the different varieties separately. They were able to produce a very small single variety lot from a high altitude farm (1800m) near Tublay, Benguet Province. This was processed as an Anaerobic natural and showcases the intense fruit and floral notes of this process.
